In Japan, the sempai-kohai system underlies nearly all relationships.

 

And while there is no exact translation into English, in basic terms, the senpai (先輩) means a senior employee, and kōhai (後輩) is the "newbie" employee.

 

The relationship is an interdependent one, as a senpai requires a kōhai and vice versa. 

 

At Kōhai this translates to the belief that our talented teams of creators (kōhai's) benefit from the organization's (senpai's) knowledge - while the organizations learns new experiences from Kohai!
